7 Reasons Why Vitamin D Is Essential to Your Body

August 20th, 2008
by Keith Woolley

This interesting article addresses some of the key issues regarding Vitamin D. A careful reading of this material could make a big difference in how you think about the exciting research that is currently being published about Vitamin D.

The most recent information can give you a real health advantage. Please take this information onboard in order to open up all the health benefits to yourself and your family.

Vitamin D is a major vitamin in being required by the body and is utilised daily in supporting its health. It is a member of the fat-soluble group of vitamins. This means that it can be dissolved and stored by our body’s fat deposits. It is unique in the fact that the body can produce it with adequate exposure to sunlight. Vitamin D may also be obtained from food. The form of this vitamin that comes from plants is called ergocalciferol (also referred to as Vitamin D2). From animals, it is called cholecalciferol or Vitamin D3. Vitamin D has many benefits for the body. They include:

Calcium absorption - Without Vitamin D it would be very difficult for the body to build strong, healthy bones. In the digestive system, Vitamin D helps the body absorb dietary calcium for food, and it is this mineral that promotes that hardness of bones. With Vitamin D, wherever the calcium we take into our body comes from, it makes sure it is utilized properly. Vitamin D also benefits the teeth and gums.

Disease prevention - Since Vitamin D helps in the absorption of calcium necessary to proper bone growth, it helps prevent the bone-deficiency disease called rickets in children. Vitamin D also helps prevent osteoporosis, a debilitating bone disease characterized by the decrease in bone density.

Vitamin D has been shown by research to be very beneficial to the health of the muscles. A 2003 study, published in the Mayo Clinic Proceedings, reported that patients who suffered from chronic musculoskeletal pain had a marked Vitamin D deficiency.

There is also some exciting reports which show Vitamin D’s ability to help prevent diseases such as rheumatoid arthritis, multiple sclerosis and possibly Type 1 diabetes. The results shown in the studies, published in 2004, are not conclusive, but researchers believe it holds promise! Vitamin D also helps boost immunity sand may prevent inflammation, which probably explains its role against rheumatoid arthritis.

Vitamin D’s benefits against cancer - The latest research promises that Vitamin D may be beneficial against certain cancers, such as prostate, colon and breast cancer. Tests conducted by researchers on the subject over a long period of time showed that the lower the Vitamin D levels are, the more probable the risk of cancer.

Vitamin D’s most active form is capable of enabling important responses in the body. One of the most important is the regulation of how cells grow and multiply. When left uncontrolled, both these processes can result in cancer growths. Again, the evidence is still prelimative and more studies have to be conducted.

You’ll find extra Vitamin D in foods like salmon, sardines and mackerel. It’s also found in cod liver oil and fortified foods like milk and cereals.

Soon you will come to realise that something you have read here will have a beneficial impact on your health. Then you’ll be glad you took the time to learn more about Vitamin D. Hopefully you will get enough Vitamin D through your diet, but I consider it so important in my own diet, that I supplement more with Solgar Vitamin D. Solgar is the brand I prefer.

Keeping In Touch With International Conference Calls

August 20th, 2008
by Ray Lam

When you are in business, you realize that keeping the lines of communication open are critical. When you conduct your business worldwide, it is even more important. Your business relies on sales people, clients, and colleagues, and if that are scattered all over the world, holding weekly meetings can be difficult.

One major difficulty that employees can experience is the time differential between the countries. Depending on which company the international conference calls are going to be received and sent from, someone may have to be up an off-shift to be sure that the meeting goes off without problem or delay.

With international conference calling, you can provide training to new employees that reside in different countries just as efficiently as if they were right in front of you. The world today offers new and innovation methods of conducting business. Conference calling has been around for years. But with the Internet came global trade, making it necessary for business and website owners to make themselves available virtually twenty-four hours a day.

International conference calling allows you the opportunity to stay in touch with the international manufacturers. You can keep up on the latest of products as well as learn all about the products you may be carrying. You can easily learn about marketing ideas and any promotional opportunities the company is offering. With international conference calling, you can do most of your international business planning and meeting either by phone or on line from any place in the world. How cool is that. You don’t have to be in a meeting room. You can actually be on a cell phone at any destination and conduct international conference calling.

There are many companies that offer the services of international conference calling and you will need to do some research as to the type of service that best fits your needs. Just like phone companies, there are different rates available and different options to choose from, but the fact remains that there is a plan made for you and your company. International conference calling has opened up a whole new world for marketing and selling products.

Etiquette and customs can be a worrisome part of international conference calls as well. For example, there can be customs indicating who speaks first and in what order the people are introduced. While it is generally accepted that the ignorance of a custom is forgivable, there should be an attempt to learn the customs and mannerisms of the people on the other end of the line.

Liposuction Surgery For Fat Removal

August 20th, 2008
by Linda A. Lithony

If you want to remove excessive fat quickly then a modern laser liposuction surgery is the best way to go. It brings you back in shape within a day and lets you contour the areas you target. Don’t confuse liposuction surgery with a weight loss procedure though because liposuction works best only in areas where you don’t have too much fat stored. This is because of the issue damage a liposuction surgery causes. The less fat you remove the smaller the damage and the better the results therefore.

Liposuction works best when small deposits of fat shall be removed from stubborn areas which are quite unresponsive to exercise or diet. Since a liposuction surgery is usually just done for cosmetic reasons, it is not covered by insurance.

Liposuction is safe today. It has a long history and the techniques are working very well. Often a local anesthesia is enough and after an hour or a bit more you are done. Thereafter you wear body-compression garment for a while but you don’t stay in the hospital. You can go home and after removal of the garment you can impress the others with your new shape. Liposuction prices are high but nevertheless popularity increases every year.

Different surgeons have different prices for liposuction. It can start with a $1,000 or even a little less but usually you will pay a couple of thousand Dollars for an excellent liposuction surgery. You shouldn’t look at the costs too much because when the surgeon isn’t experienced and uses old procedures and equipment you can find yourself with a damaged body. It’s not necessary though to go to the most expensive surgeon in Manhattan to get the best possible treatment. There are great places in Europe in Asia for example where you get top notch surgery.

Anesthesia, medications, hospital fees and many more factors affect the pricing. You won’t get it for free but when you consider the damage a bad surgery can have then you should be happy to pay the price for an excellent surgeon who knows what he is doing and who uses the latest equipment. Since it is a cosmetic surgery you shouldn’t look at the price anyway and do it only when you can really afford it.

If you consider a liposuction then you should ask for a laser liposuction, the latest in liposuction surgery. Instead of brutally removing the cells, the laser is melting the fat cells. The healing chances are much better because much less damage is caused. This technique is especially useful for high risk areas like the face, neck or other sensitive parts.

The laser does its work gently compared to the traditional method. The heat of the lasers is melting the fat cells which then can be removed by the surgeon or they can just be absorbed and discharged by the body over the following weeks. The complete surgery takes about an hour.

Today liposuction is a safe and fast way to remove stubborn fat and get a new shape literally in minutes. For best results you should do some sports and have just the fat removed that was resistant to your efforts.

How To Detox With The Ten Best Body Detox Diet Foods

August 20th, 2008
by Clare Denton

There’s lots of different detox diets and programs available today, but if you’re getting confused and just want some simple tips on how to detox your body, here’s a list of the top foods that you can use to create many recipes for a detox diet plan. You can eat them as-they-come as part of a raw food detox diet, or why not juice them and create your own detox drinks recipes.

Organic is always better if you find them and afford them, but if not don’t worry about it - non-organic fruits and veg are always a lot better than no fruit and veg at all. All these foods are a great way to build your own natural detox diet program. If you’re just getting and looking for a total body detox, they can provide everything you need to create a healthy and tasty 7 day detox program.

1. The Power of Apples

Did you know that scientists in the Ukraine used apples to help clean and purify the area of Chernobyl when they had that catastrophic disaster back in 1986? That says something about the detox power of apples. Their power comes from high levels of vitamin C and quercetin, which is an antioxidant that helps reduce levels of bad cholesterol.

Apples also have a compound called pectin, which is a fiber present in citrus fruits and berries. Pectin has chelation properties as it binds to heavy metals such as mercury and lead, and helps your body excrete them. It is also good for helping your body get rid of various food additives and toxins like tartrazine. This toxin has been shown to be linked to conditions and diseases like asthma, migraine and hyperactivity, especially in children.

2. Avocados

Avocados are a real powerhouse of nutrients - rich in folate, fiber, potassium, vitamin E and the carotenoid lutein, beta-carotene and gluthathione. Lutein may be linked to maintaining healthy eyes and vision. An avo is one of a small minority of fruits that actually contain monounsaturated fat.

The natural levels of gluthathione in our bodies decrease as we get older, which is one reason why hangovers get worse as we age. Studies of “older people” have shown that those who had higher levels of glutathione were healthier than those with lower levels. The higher level group were also less likely to suffer from arthritis, which many experts believe is a condition aggravated by excess toxicity in our bodies.

3. Artichokes for Liver Detox

Artichokes are a great tasting zero-fat, zero-cholesterol veg that provide a wealth of vitamins and minerals and phytochemicals including vitamin A, B6, Niacin, folic acid, chromium, potassium, iron and calcium. One powerful detox benefit of artichokes is its ability to increase bile production in the liver. More bile means the body is able to transport more toxins to the bowel for excretion - so a great food for a natural liver detox.

Artichokes are also packed with powerful antioxidants, and are a great food for liver detox. In some European studies, tests showed that where free radicals have damaged the liver, this damage is greatly reduced with the use of artichoke extracts.

4. Beetroot

Beetroot has been used for millennia (literally) as a blood purifying tonic. Roman civilisations were known to have used it extensively for total body detoxing over 2000 years ago. Beetroot is also believed to chelation properties and may help absorb toxic metals. At a polluted mine in Leadville, Colorado, USA, beets (as well as carrots and bananas) are being used to filter pollutants from the natural water supplies.

Beetroot contains methionine and betanin. Methionine helps to purify natural waste bodily waste products. Betanin works to help increase the rate at which the liver breaks down fatty acids. This action helps takes workload off the liver allowing it to fight the dangerous toxins.

5. Cruciferous or Brassica Vegetables

The range of cruciferous vegetables are known to have anti-carcinogenic properties by helping our body to destroy carcinogens. These vegetables include Kale, Broccoli, Cauliflower, Spinach, Brussels Sprouts, Radishes, Cabbage, Watercress and several others.

All these vegetables are rich in vitamin C and vital minerals such as selenium and potassium and have been shown to help eliminate nitrosamines from your body - nitrosamines are produced from cigarette smoke.

Need to Know Advice When Buying a Diamond

August 20th, 2008
by Brad Morgan

The diamond is unique in the hierarchy of gems. Its elegance has been loved since its discovery.

If you are confused about why some diamonds are so much more expensive than others, you are not alone. Why oh why can one diamond engagement ring be worth $8000 and another one that doesn’t look that much different to the naked eye be worth only $2000?

The physical weight of a diamond is referred to as its “carat”. The value of a diamond is directly proportional to its size. The larger the diamond, the more valuable it is, because larger diamonds are less common. Greater size makes the diamond more spectacular, and therefore increases the purchase price.

Price is not solely determined based on the number of carats however. Expensive diamonds also need to have excellent clarity. The means the inside of the diamond should be free from “inclusions”, and the outside of the diamond should be blemish free.

The clarity of a diamond can vary from ‘pure’ to heavily included. This designation is arrived at after anaylyzing the how many inclusions are found as well where the inclusions are located, whether they are tinted, and how large they are.

The appearance or absence of these imperfections is a result of how the diamond was formed underground over thousands of years. Since diamonds are often thought of as the symbol of perfection in our society, the more perfect they actually are under the scrutiny of a microscope, the more expensive they become.

Another important factor when evaluating the worth of a diamond is color. If certain gases were present beneath the earth when the diamond was forming, it may have taken on a distinct color.

There is a scale of coloration that ranges from “D,” where no color is present, to “Z,” where color is easily visible. There is a spectrum known as “beyond Z,” where the colors are rich and vibrant within the diamond and are referred to as fancy colors.

The cost of a diamond is also determined by one final factor, the cut. The cut of a diamond gives it the ability to glitter by reflecting the light back out in very precise ways.

To view a diamond from the point of view of the cut is to investigate whether or not it has any ‘fire’. Like the other criteria for grading, the cut has it’s own grading scale that goes from excellent to irregular. If the diamond doesn’t knock your socks off then it likely has not been cut very well.

Understand the 4 elements that make a diamond a special and precious gem: carat, clarity, color and cut. Knowing the difference between a dud and a dazzling diamond will be the difference between money spent poorly and money well spent.

Collecting Antique Pocket Watches

August 20th, 2008
by Charlie Reese

The Value Of Antique Pocket Watches

Last year we were buying my son?s high school ring and I decided to also pick up a pocket watch. I told him that I may not have much to leave behind for him but I at least wanted to leave him this pocket watch. I don?t know why I chose a pocket watch. All I know is that it seemed like the right thing to choose. I thought about it for a while and then it occurred to me that a well-made pocket watch is a perfect heirloom to leave behind. It is something that future generations will always need and use and something that they can easily store and cherish. The watch I have has many generations to go through before it can be considered antique but antique pocket watches make perfect heirlooms to leave for future generations. It is especially nice if the antique pocket watches you are leaving behind are precision built because while antique pocket watches are nice if you have antique pocket watches that can still tell perfect time then you really have something of high value. Sometimes the perceived value of antique pocket watches is higher than the actual value.

Sometimes you happen upon antique pocket watches in places you would never expect. There was a story some years ago of a person that was able to find priceless antique pocket watches at his local flea market. If you know what you are looking for then you can find antique pocket watches just about anywhere. A garage sale may the place to find antique pocket watches although there has to be a certain amount of guilt involved in paying fifty cents for something you know is worth much more than that. Buying antique pocket watches should not be an occasion to wrestle with one?s conscience. But there is a huge availability out there if you just know where to look and know what you are looking for.

Treasures For Future Generations

When you get something as valuable as an heirloom pocket watch you should always keep track of it and keep it in a safe place. Never give something so valuable to anyone too young to deal with it. I was given a few heirlooms when I was very young and today I lament losing them as a youth so that I am not able to enjoy them now. So be selective on whom you give these heirlooms to and remember that it is only an heirloom if it makes it to the next generation.

Will a Storage Shed Improve the Resale Value of Your Home?

August 20th, 2008
by Amy Nutt

If you invest in a metal storage shed at one time or another and then you decide to sell your home, does your shed add to the resale value of your home? This is a question that looms on the minds of many homeowners who make such important investments throughout the ownership of a home. Sometimes homeowners choose to take their metal storage shed with them when they move. That’s if it is easy to move. Other times they decide to include it with the home, especially if moving it is going to be a daunting task. But does it add value if you decide to leave it there?

As far as monetary value, it does add some money to the resale value of your home. It could also be that factor that helps make up the mind of an individual who is trying to decide between your home and another home. People love the idea of having somewhere to store their belongings that they don’t use or won’t fit in the home. So you’re probably going to be a shoe in if you have that extra storage space and the other home does not.

Other advantages

If your outdoor storage shed happens to be garage size, that is another advantage. If there is not a garage on or next to the home, an individual may choose to turn the shed into a garage for their car. Otherwise the metal storage shed is going to be an excellent place to store outdoor furniture and toys in the winter, to store the kids bicycles, to store lawn equipment, and other outside tools such as gardening tools. Homebuyers like the idea of their outdoor items being protected within a metal storage building instead of on the back porch. First of all, all of these items on the back porch can be an eyesore. Second of all, items that are left out in the open are invitations for thieves to come onto the property and steal these items. This means that the metal storage shed is going to keep them from having to replace their outdoor items due to theft or damage from the elements.

There are just so many uses for a metal storage shed. Other individuals may find that the shed makes a great workshop for building projects or that it serves as a great place to store summer clothes during the winter and vice versa. There are so many uses for a metal storage shed that a person’s mind goes into overdrive when they see one. They begin thinking about what they can place in it or what they can use it for. Some people have always wanted a space that they could call their own and that metal storage shed could be it.

A great investment

Because your metal storage shed adds to the resale value of your home, that is further proof that investing in a storage shed is certainly worth the money. It helps you out while living in your home and helps you out again when you are selling it. Then again, it continues to serve those people who move into your home after you sell it to them. That just proves how durable a metal storage shed can be and they are also attractive, so that is another selling point when you put your home on the market. It looks strong, it is strong, and it is going to stay strong no matter how many people decide to move in and out of that home.

Two Solutions To Solve Your Poor Credit

August 20th, 2008
by Michael Jans

Debt is a common household world across the USA and for that matter any country. It often becomes overwhelming and easy just to give up, because there doesn’t look like any way out. Actually there are a couple of excellent opportunities to get your finances back in order and give you a fresh start.

If you have some evidences like home, business or property then it becomes much easier for you to get funds from a lending institution, to consolidate your debts into one, which usually makes payments easier to handle.

If you don’t have equity then you may want to consider setting up a consultation with a debt management service. Actually it is their main concern to show you how to meet your financial obligations. And Debt management Services has become more popular these days.

And if you made a decision to do something about your debt then you can find two options for help. If your debt ratio is high then you may have to consider debt consolidation. The best that you have from this choice is you may get a reduction in rates and in some cases eliminated all together.

The consolidation company will make all the necessary arrangements with your debtors and then the monthly payments will be made directly to the consolidation service. You may find this lifts a big financial burden off you, as payments are often reduced up to 50%

Second option may be a debt settlement agency. Here negotiation will take place with your creditors to reach an agreement to accept a portion of what you owe them.

So they need to determine how much of the debt they will give up and from there on you will be responsible to pay the left out money. And once you do this you burden of debt will reduce drastically.

Finally you need to make one decision before you consult any debtors. Your consultation with both the debt consolidation firm and a debt settlement agency can give you some advice to select the right kind of choice. Your decision will also be based on what your creditors will be willing to accept as well. In either case it is important to take positive steps to get your finances in order otherwise it will just continue to get worse.

The piano is an instrument which is cherished by people around the globe, particularly in the western culture. People love to listen to music in their spare time and to add to that, people also enjoy listening to their own music in spare time. What better way to relax then to play the piano on your own?

If you crave music, you can get it almost in an instant. Today’s internet world has seen a rapid growth and because of this fact, the music industry has seen a number of major changes within a short period of time.

Piano software is available online for those of you who wish to learn the instrument. You can download instructional videos, music lessons, and much more, all at the touch of a button.

Piano software varies a good deal, even for beginners. Some companies will ship you a box set of DVDs to learn from, while others will allow you to download a learning based package to your computer. Popular items may be “learn to tell notes” or “metronome” devices.

Your piano software may include items that are interactive, such as picking the right key to the note you are hearing. You may learn to play novice songs, and you may even be able to update your software via the internet.

The piano software teaches the user step by step instructions gradually introducing him or her to the basic aspects of the piano, the different parts, and the key notes etc.

The newer styles of piano software contain a virtual piano which is kind of fun for the beginner. They allow you to click on the piano keys with your mouse, and hear the corresponding sound that the note should play. This is a great way to get your ears in tune with how the sound and visuals should work.
